OT, sort of. 2012 Crosshaul Cruise - Photog Coverage

The morning started on a high point over at DJM. 8:30 is pretty early for me to be anywhere on a Saturday, but it was well worth breaking my snooze button habit. Here's why...

    The A59

After I broke out of the A59 tunnel vision I started swinging the camera around.

    ;)

If you're looking for a specific car, look here:

I didn't go on the actual cruise as my car is a poorly geared rust bucket with an exhaust leak. Hope you enjoyed the photos. :pic:

It's German made. How is there not love for a VW? Great looking pictures.

Thumbs up! Looks like some nice cars came out the event.

The A59 is pretty darn sweet even for a VW (This is coming from a previous VW owner - pic below). What the hell does the "A59" stand for anyway? Did he bore out the VR6 to 5.9 liters??? Silly to me...

The A59 is a concept car. Google will give you more info like this link: http://www.wolfsburgrennsport.com/20...e-changed.html This one was built in honor of it so to speak. IIRC, it was orignially built in B.C. Canada (can't remember if it was Momentum, PG or who was involved...RPI? been too long :P) then sold to NGP on the east coast, then I think it went to CA and now it's back. Nice to see it here again after a NA tour! I remember when it showed at Waterwagens shortly after it was built.

Exactly and thank you. I think we (VW and BMw enthusiasts) forget that our cars are made from parts from the same couple companies. Mostly Bosch parts. In the case of my E21, many of my parts are the same as the VW MKIs.

Thanks for that info. Here's my little addition. The car is a 1997 Driver's Edition that was kitted with the bumpers, and fender flares of the 3rd A59 kit. The rest of the kit was sold off. The current plans for this car, as I overheard it's current builder, quoting the owner, is that it will get an AWD system. But, I only overheard that while shooting photos, so take it for what that's worth.

Regardless of whether or not it's a real A59, it's got arguable the most sought-after, rare VW parts on it.

Found some old pics, it was built in part with FK North America (just couldn't remember which BC place was helping :P)

Too bad the pic links are dead in the old MK3 forum build threads on it.
