How much does it cost to bring back a 25+ year old car and do I need to bring any papers for anything?

If it's a 25+ year old car I think you just need taxes, newer models are a whole different story.

The ironic thing is when you import a car 15 years or older from the states its as simple as pie, but when the you try to import one from Canada to the US its like signing a peace treaty. You might as well sacrifice a chicken and dance around a fire - because the biggest obsticle is getting the paperwork from BMW

The Canadian model doesn't have the dual kph and mph? I thought all of the Canadian model cars for NA market have these?

I know markers, safety, and other stuff require DOT tags.

But shouldn't the BMW USA letter stating it complies with all FSMV then it should be okay for DOT correct?

The car could be 24 years old or only 2 years old, they are all treated the same way.

Well, sort of. The car has to meet the dot standards of its build year, so that may vary.
