    Just started a bran new engine, tick

    So my dilemma is that I have just started my wifes brand new m20b25 and it has a strange tick. Not the normal "m20 tick" bit somthing a bit different, I'm gonna tear back into it Ina bit but if anybody familiar with m20's wants to stop by and take a peak I would greatly appreciate it.

          How fast and what location is it ticking from? Might give a few ideas where it could be coming from.

          {Edit}

          Is it going to be at HPF tomorow or is it at your house? Also, when you say rebuilt how indepth did you go? Like down to the rings or did you leave the bottom end be?

              Dunno what it is and may never find out, started it up today and ..... Nothing, no tick Austin even stopped by to hang out for a minute and took a listen. Actually sounds damn good to be honest. When it was doing it however, it was a repeating double tick at the front. Could have been the alt, power steering, a/c.. Tick-tick................tick-tick...................tick-tick.......

                  Sometimes its exhaust. Maybe a slight leak that closes or opens when warm.

                  Looks nice though man.

                    Cool. Now you make 14psi of boost right? That's the only logical thing to do for her car.

                      I'll let you guys know if it comes back, thanks for all the suggestions everybody!
                      No boost on this one, I bought the car as a shell and built this motor so she could have a reliable car to drive for the summer (whenever that's gonna come around) it will be swapped next year.

                        Thing sounds fucking awesome. Hands down, the nicest, cleanest M20 I've ever heard. No ticks that I heard. Sounded like a dozen sewing machines to me. Almost put me to sleep listening to it...
