Recommendations for a classic vehicle appraiser in the PDX area

So, as most (if not all) of you know, my car was backed into last week. Insurance has hinted at totaling my car over $3200 in damages (have yet to hear back from them, though.) Obviously, the car is worth much, much more then $3200, so I need to prove that to the insurance company.

With that said, I would like to find an appraiser in the PDX area who knows vintage BMW's and will give me an appraisal of the car.

Also, looking for comparables (if anyone knows of any in particular) that are similar to my car (24v, 5 lug, E30 M interior, etc.) Would help greatly if they were a late model and a 325i/is. I've already got MR 325's old car, but am taking as many as I get.

    Thanks guys. Appreciate it.

Kind of a tough one Austin. To claims adjusters they are just old cars. When appraised, modifications don't mean to much ie a $1400 GC set up nets you next to nothing in increased value. Your best bet is find compatible cars that are currently for sale and hope for the best.

Curt suggested it, so I figured maybe somebody knew of something. Going to print off tons of comparables tomorrow.

I fucking hate dealing with insurance. What a headache.

Make sure they appraise it when you aren't sitting in it. It will net you another grand or so.

When the guy came to look at mine he got out of his car and said

"wow, when I got the paperwork for an old BMW I thought for sure it was going to be another POS " "I haven't seen one in this nice of shape and we'll get it all fixed for you no problem"

So what do YOU feel your cars worth?

It's kind of hard to put an exact value on it, but given the upgrades it has (24v, E36 M 5 lug, E30 M interior, just to name a few,) I feel that the car absolutely was worth at least $7500 ALL day long (that would've been my bottom dollar to sell at, it's not worth it for any less.)

I wouldn't be afraid to take it on a cross country road trip at any given time. It's been a dead reliable car for me, particularly for as many miles as I have put on it in the last year (almost 30k miles.)

Its a tough one with a modded old car. Like Keith said it's just an old 3 series to them

This is why I have Hagerty insurance.

I think once I finish the car (and it becomes a show car only, NOT a daily,) I'll have Hagerty insure it. Hell, maybe now would be a good time to do it...
