    What would r3v do?

My bronzit likes to leave puddles where ever I park her.

Part of the problem is power steering rack needing a replace and the other is oil.

Which leads me to wanting to do an engine rebuild or a swap...

I dont think I would be satisfied with just rebuilding the m20, so I need votes on m50/s50 swap or ls v8 swap.

I don't want any forced induction and I want the most bang for my buck/reliability.

Oh yeah & I work at a chevy store so I get discounts on chevy parts which gives me a quarter chub when I think ls1 our any ls swap...

Thoughts? What a fun to drive reliable daily in the end.

Plan on $800 for a decent engine rebuild to stock spec. Plan on $3,000 + if you want to build the M20 nicely. If you want to keep the car, then yes, I'd suggest doing the V8 swap. It's amazing what they've done with it and I love M20s and FI but that would be instant power on demand with a very even torque curve. It would basically accentuate all of the positive features of the engine, without having to compromise on too much. I've driven one that had a 350 swap in it and I was impressed, the power delivery was very nice, and with the right gearing it was great on fuel economy too the way it lazily cruises down the highway at 1800RPMs.

First dibs on your engine though if you decide to swap it. Unless it's a 2.7. I'm sick of those things.

I have no foreseeable plans of selling her, and the 5.3l from the trucks are stock with 289 hp I can get one for $500 or less rebuild with a cam and be over 300 hp...

I think my mind has already been made... Now I gotta talk my dad out of his garage, the carport at my condo won't work for this project... Lol

Remember if using truck motor you'll need car acc, car intake, car oilpan, car transmission...

S50 is a nice engine, man. Turbo it and you're pretty much balls deep fast. M50 is cheaper and again, turbo for grins from ear to ear.

V8 has a bunch of fabrication. If you have the tools, or access at the very least, it's a tempting, cheap alternative. Don't go with a truck motor :P

I've got one you can buy for $225 pulled from a running car not to detract from this guy's thread.

Back on topic, building these is a pain in the ass because on the one hand there are really only a few successful directions to go, on the other hand you can go insane charting which way each of them will take you. V8 swap it, 'nuff said.

I think he took forced induction off the table. Just promise us you will run it FUEL INJECTED and not with carbs.

I already know I'm gonna need a gto pan and the ls1 accessories...

The iron motor is 80 lbs over the ls1 and can be had for a 3rd of the price and bored further.

I figure the iron swap will add a total of 160lbs to my car and at least 200hp...
