Gentlemen, I'll be moving to Seattle from the sticks in the near future. I'll be bringing my two cars, and all the tools that I use to make sure a mechanic never touches my babies :)
Renting a house with a garage is easy enough. But I'm looking to live as close to Queen Anne/South Lake Union as is possible due to work and girlfriend. So I'm exploring my options if an apartment because the only viable option.
The one thing a metropolis does provide that the boondocks don't is options! But I'm not sure what these options might be. For those in the know, is it possible to rent a space to store and work on a car within 20 miles of say Ballard? It doesn't need to have heat, or bathrooms, just a roof and a lock, and preferably be in an area where no one will try and test that lock too often.
I've heard that some storage units are okay with car storage and car repair on the premise? I'm not talking about just changing the oil. I've dropped the transmission and the subframe in the last year, and might be building a Pro3 car in the next 2 or 3 years. We're talking that level. A parking garage aint going to cut it ;-)
My budget is probably in the sub $200 level per month, with anything more than $100 probably requiring some nice amenities/location/security. The more expensive the place just means the shittier my apartment ;)
The dependency tree and interaction between my options and desires is quite a web at this point, I'm just trying to figure out options. Please forgive me if this reads more as me rambling.
Cheers,
Tyler
