    I need to use someone's reset tool to turn off my inspection light

    They go cheap on eBay and other places. Less than 20 bucks.

          your late model e30, jump pins 7 and 19
          google it if you have questions, you dont need a yuppie tool- takes more time to pop the hood and uncap diagnostics than it does to reset it-

          go.

                I have an factory tool as well, but the paperclip method is more fun.

                    2 ways to do it with the paper clip
                    and i used that method for years until i bought an ebay for for less then 3 dollars, and it arrived, and it works.

                    got a post of it somewheres,

                    fwiw, i also used a white paint marker to highlight the holes so when i did this, i didn't have to constantly lookup which ones...
