    Needed E30 airbag Light

So Im keeping this car factory stock. I want the airbag-so lets ignore that conversation for another thread.

Westwerks did a five speed swap on the car and disconnected the airbag system. Its all put back together but the fault light will not go away. I called a ton of shops/local people I know and no one has the tool.

    Any luck here?

I have the tool that my brother used on his e36 M3. I believe it should work on our e30's though. If you find out, we can get it done. Let me know :)

Are you willing to rent that tool?
what you did to this car is like getting a supermodel naked and willing to do anything you please. now here you are faced with ths once in a lifetime opportunity and then you squander it by making her fuck you in the butt with a 24" strap on. you are a sad, silly little boy.

I presume you didn't want to work with us due to distance? We do have the tools (BMW DIS/GT1)

I'll pm you if I need it. Just bought a reconstructed titled 95ti with head gasket problems and the airbag light on. I am on the fence whether to part it or fix it.

What do you have to do to reset an E30 airbag light?

BMW Technical Service Bulletin 72 02 91 (3338) describes the procedure to read and correct this issue for a Seimens SRS control module. My 9/89 build M3 has the Seimens unit.

The document indicates that the new diagnostic tool that the dealership has, the DIS, will NOT work for this. The shop must use the BMW Service Tester. A special connector was sent out to each dealership back in late ’94 according to this TSB. The part number for the connector was SD# 91-020. All is not lost if this connector is not available. The shop can manually jump the following pins from the Service Tester to the controller side of the SRS connector in the car.

              Service Tester--------SRS Connector
              Pin #15 (RxD)---------C240 Pin #6 (WT/YL)
              Pin #20 (TxD)---------C240 Pin #2 (WT/VI)
              Pin #19 (Ground)-----Good Vehicle Ground

Never got a call back from John. The e36 does not work. E30s use a different port

While you are waiting to get the SRS reset, you can put a little piece of black electrical tape on that overhead airbag red light.
Of course this doesn't fix the problem, but at least there will be no flashing red light that keeps you agitated.

We should have time next week to handle it. Let me know what day you want to come down and I'll just handle it for you. (Except Friday)

James - do you charge for that service? Cost? I think I might have to drive down and pick up the AFM / DME ...
