early model vs late model steering wheels

OK so here is my problem. I bought a Momo hub off a Guy here. Tells me its for a e30 . I get it, try to install it with my Momo wheel and what do you know, it doesn't fit. Looks like the hub has less teeth than my steering column. Tried to ouch the sucker on hard, tried to turn it. Tried everything, it just squishes the teeth on the hub so I decided to stop as I don't want to mess it up. He said it fit his early model e30, I have a late model 318is. are the asteering columns different between early and late models and did I not do my homework before purchase or did he sell me a wrong part? Its only 40 bucks but, I'm sure I can fix my obc with that or something, ya know. If I just didn't do my homework, ill suck it up. Just wana make sure. Feedback appreciated

The amount of splines on the column is the same, the only difference is needing to run a spacer (shim) in order to use a non air bag wheel on an air bag car.

OK cool. In that case there is no way he ran this on a e30. There are far less splines on the hub. I was aware of the spacer part but the hub doesn't fit at all...

Post pics please, in theory, either the car sides or wheel will has less splines, because the splines sit inside each other.

I have had momo wheels in a few of my e30s, and I am fairly experienced in this, Let me know if there is any way I can help.

That makes sense, but the hub has far less splines than the shaft. I tried to turn it, hit it on, whatever i can do. And it didnt fit. The sell assured me that he had it on his car. I try to believe him and cant call him a liar but still, its not fitting.
