    What would r3v pnw do?

Sitting in traffic I had a dilemma cross my mind. I recently picked up a 85 eta, clean body, clean interior for a winter car. It has big snow tires on it and an LSD. It rocks in the snow.

So here's my issue, I'm getting ready to throw an m106 engine (early turbo 745i) in my late model e30 (which is already m30 swapped) now I'm having thoughts of putting it in the early model and moving all the goodies from the late model to the early.

To help you understand, here is why I would want to; the late model body is in rough shape - both front fenders are trashed, both rear quarters have pulled arches, the right side has rust and bondo covered by spray paint.

Sounds like a no brainer right? No.

I only have 1 month to complete this project before the space/lift I have becomes unavailable. Plus I work 40+hours a week with a 50 mile commute.

Here is everything I'd have to remove from the late model and put in the early:
Front suspension - e36 m3 brakes, coilovers, poly bushings
Rear suspension - 318ti trailing arms, rear subframe (camber/toe adj tabs, poly bushings) diff
    brake master cyl
Bolt in roll cage, sparco seats, harnesses
g260/5 transmission, shortened driveshaft, engine mounts, exhaust.
    euro smilies
Strip the sound deadening and unnecessary wiring (foraze)
    roll the fenders

    Pro's:
    Clean shell
    No emissions required
    Fresh start
Factory manual car (late model started life as an auto)

    Con's:
A lot more work with little time
Welding a plate for the motor mount to the frame
Trash shell, eta engine, and a bunch of stock parts to get rid of
No winter car - I can't sell it come spring for profits

Yes it has crossed my mind to put all of the stock parts onto the late model, but I doubt I would have the time.

If you read through all that your a champ.

All to early car. I'll help do it for free, my car is in eastern washington and my creative mechanic side is dying.

Why you have so many cool parts??? Lol. I'd just stick with the late model plan for now if I were in your position. You'd probably regret swapping everything because it's really nice to have a decent winter car. You can always hold it off until you find another clean late model shell too. I live in Issaquah but I've never seen you around, do you ever see my slammed white late model coupe?

I've probably seen it. What wheels are you on? I daily a bagged cinnorot e36 which is probably why you haven't seen my e30's

You going to have more free time at a later date? Could always do all of the swapping over then.

Since you already plan on doing the engine swap it's not THAT much more to do everything else, but it does add up.

That'd be my plan too. Keep eta as winter car. Find a clean shell later, swap parts + engine into it. Ditch the rusty late shell.

If you can afford the fuel, keep m30 late model as DD beater, build early car. Oh, and Euro bumpers.

I would drop engine out bottom and then just wheel it over to new car. Suspension and brakes and engine and swapped together as one.\

                    Sounds doable

You didn't have enough patience for someone else to finish your exhaust - so I'm pretty sure you'd start the project, come nowhere close to finishing and then sell both cars for parts. You would then buy a beater and repeat.

You have one month? That's completely do-able. Even if you only put 2-3 evenings a week in, I see that happening. Plus, I may someone interested in the late model shell if your looking at getting rid of it.
