Looking to borrow/rent/buy an engine hoist.

I am parting out my '97 M3, and it is getting to the point that I am ready to pull the engine out so I can clean/"refresh" it and put it in to my e30. Right now I would just need it for a weekend to pull the s52 out. It is going to sit for a little bit while I get all of the parts needed for the swap, clean/prep the engine/e30 etc. So it won't be something where I say I need it for a weekend and then it snowballs and I keep it way longer than I said I would. I just need to pull the s52 and set it down on something in my garage for now.

It would be ideal if I could borrow/rent one from a community member. If you have one that you are looking to sell, I'd consider buying one if the price is right. I don't know if I'll have a need after doing the swap, but I wouldn't mind having one and I'm not really short on space.

Shoot me a PM here or an email at Jones.JordanR AT gmail . com

    Thanks guys!

You can get a decent new one from harbor freight for really cheap, 180 I think.

I've got one taking up storage space in Arlington. You're welcome to borrow it for as long as you need it. I'm off work between now and the first of the year, so now is a good time to come get it. PM if you're interested.

Thanks guys. I have seen them at Harbor Freight for cheap. And if it were something that I was likely to need again in the somewhat near future, I'd just pony up and buy one. But I don't see myself needing one again after I do the swap. I have a pretty big garage, but it would be just another thing taking up space. Plus, I am trying to have this swap "pay for itself". My m3 was totaled and I bought it back from the insurance company for $1800 (freaking great deal). The plan is to part the m3 aside from the things I need for the swap (engine, trans, driveshaft, DME etc) and I'll probably keep the front suspension so I can go 5-lug with the m3 brakes in the future. I have almost sold enough parts to cover the $1800 cost of the car. I'd like to pay for the remainder of the $1800 and all of the swap parts I need with the rest of the funds raised from parting the e36. So unnecessarily buying an engine hoist when there are cool people around that will let me borrow theirs doesn't make much sense to me.

Noel, I'll shoot you a PM.
