    Car won't start

Recently my car has had an issue of starting back up after short trips... it would have to sit for awhile before it would restart. Then it did on me when I was driving a week or so back and wouldn't restart right away.

This morning as I get to the freeway off ramp she dies at like 40mph and won't start back up for like 25 min making me late for work. I get to the parking lot for work a couple blocks drive and she dies just in time for me to coast into a spot...

I start up no problems after 8 hours at work but she sounds horrible, I hear a tapping I make it midway across the lot and she dies and won't start back up... she cranks every time I turn the key but won't start.

Any ideas on getting her running, in planning on doing a swap in a couple months but I need her to run in the meantime as my e30 is my daily/only car.

Help please... could it be the cps?

Are you getting fuel at the rail and spark when cranking? What year/model is it? M20? M42? M10? need more info to help you.

What makes you pretty sure your getting fuel? Have you tested pressure at the rail? Have you checked that your getting good spark?

            Sounds like fuel pump

First, swap your O2 heater relay with your Fuel Relay and see if that works. If it starts your fuel relay was bad...

Next, unplug the C191 connector under your intake manifold, check it, spray some contact cleaner on both ends, reconnect then start your car.

Be sure to check for spark at every cylinder - not just one....

If the above does not work,
Get a fuel pressure gauge and put it between the fuel line and fuel rail. Make sure you're getting fuel.

If the above does not work,
Do a compression test on every cylinder.

I would check for spark and if no spark then test the CPS.

You wouldn't get spark if the CPS wasn't working...

When it doesn't start, does it fire at all? Or does it just crank? ...and is the crank strong off the battery? Check battery for 12V

Also, you may want to clean up your grounds just in case.

I once had a bad ECU that would cause the car to die as well....

How's your battery? Cold weather kills them. It could be part of it.

The battery is pretty new and I replaced my grounds a couple months back along with the starter... I'm gonna leave it at work until one of the techs had a chance to look at it on Saturday...
