Are M50 and S50 intake manifolds the same?

Mine was the victim of some unfortunate powdercoating decisions by the PO....

I'm interested on how someone powdercoated plastic.

Hunh. Several other parts are powdercoated so I assumed the intake was aluminum that had been powdercoated. So apparently it's plastic that has been spray painted. Even better!

Judging by that picture, the plastic likely would have looked better after a powder-coat attempt.

There are a couple different versions of the M50 intake manifolds, just a few thing in slightly different places like the IAT and the vacuum port for the brake booster but you can make either intake manifold work.

I think it would probably handle the heat fine as when they are made they have to be cured at almost 400* and there are some newer thermoset plastics that can handle 1300*. I might throw my extra OBDII manifold in the oven at 400* for 10 minutes and see what happens. They also make some powders that cure at lower temps. The hardest part would probably prepping the manifold.
