I know you own one but have you ever actually driven one? Do they feel that much better than a vert? Kinda hard to compare E21 baur to E30 vert though..

Where in NW are you? You may be near Dynasport, and Ryan always seems to have a bunch of E30's around (not counting the few he owns.)

I wouldn't be surprised if these flexed worse then a vert as they are missing the roof and there is not much of the C pillar left and as far as I know they don't have any of the reinforcements that the verts got. They are just stupid and pointless.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the vert was engineered without a roof, and baur is just an aftermarket hack job?

            Edit: According to wikipedia

There were 4595 E21 Baurs built between 1978-1982. The roll-bar version or "Top Cabrio" (TC) continued with the E30 TC2 even after Baur developed the BMW E30 Convertible design for BMW, and which BMW built.

Pretty childish to bash on something because you don't like it. Worse yet to flag someone's ad because you don't like the car or price.

And the price is great considering that ETA's in similar condition are going for almost the same price.

And it should be said, that the items on that car, that were listed as needing attention, are from the detail level of a collector's car, not the daily junkboxes that people are trying to pass off as nice.

And Baur's are more rigid than E30 cabrios. Cabrios have very heavy reinforced frame rails to compensate for the lack of a roof. Which in the end is just damage control since the floor is the only thing that holds the two end of the car together.

The portion of a roof that stiffens the chassis is the outer edges of the roof, which on a Baur are still intact. So, its stiffer and lighter than a cabrio.

              For your reference:

              fullsized:

It's always the same around here, one car, one look, and people close minded about anything else. I love E30's too, but hating on everything else just because it's different? C'mon, you guys are all better than that.

Dang, someone's not enjoying this weather..

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. And people weren't saying it was different, they said it was "ugly." Which is subjective. Some may see a really hot chick at the end of the bar, others may see a 300 pound whale that got lost on the way to Sea World.

"Different" is Darth Vader on a unicycle.
