My friend Wally brought his electric one inch impact driver from work he used to do on huge equipment like gravel crushers, etc. Well, it took about 4 seconds to spin the crank bolt out of my m-42. Amazing machine.
Good thing too, as you will see when I removed the lower timing chain cover the missing bolt from the upper oil pan had worked it way through the engine and was at the bottom of the timing chain up against the sprocket. Can't imagine turning the motor over with the offending bolt there. lucky guy. All because you guys all said change the front crank oil seal. I'm the luckiest guy on the planet today. thanks again for all the encouragement.
ps Wally suggested brake cleaner to take serious grunge off the block and parts. Works great.
