The thing is that the PSS generally will last a longer than the DW if you are an aggressive driver. :)

What's your favorite "bang for the buck" summer tire?
I ran a few different summer tires on my 400whp/400wtq Mazdaspeed6 and for an affordable summer tire I liked the Sumitomo HTR Z III and Kumho Ecsta LE Sport. Good dry, great wet, acceptable summer tire mileage. I didn't like the Bridgestone Potenza RE040A or RE050 at all for the price range as they both felt like bricks. I have the BFGoodrich Sport Comp2 on the E30 and so far so good, but I haven't put many miles on them yet.

Zoomzoom- awesome, I wouldn't have even thought about those. I really want the pilot sports but at almost twice the cost of the sumitomos's. damn the PSS's for being sexy. Btw does anyone know of a way to find out if a tire has a curb protector lip? I let my girlfriend drive my car once in a blue moon, I'd hate for her to curb one of my beloved wheels.

After doing some research, I think I'm going with the Sumitoma's. The reviews were a bit lower then Michelin/BFG/Continental, but at half the cost, I could sacrifice some things.. LOL

If you're looking to save some money, you can order off tire rack or discount tire direct and take your wheels and tires over to kevin doyle and he will mount/balance them for a great price.

Where is he located? I had planned on buying them through TireRack and having my dads shop mount/balance them ($15per)

I don't know if he can beat that price, but he's located in bellevue.

So, I stopped by my step fathers shop today and sought out the purchase of the sumitomo's... Only to be denied. He demanded I get the continental DW's proclaiming that there are two things you don't cheap out on... Tires and breaks.. To offset the cost and put his mind at ease for the safety of myself and girlfriend, he paid the difference. Can't complain about that. I will get back to you all at the end of next week with first reactions.

I have DWs on Klaus. I got about 20k out of the set I put on my E39 before I replaced them with DWSs. The DW is a really good tire in its own right; once price is factored in it's tough to beat.

Good deal for you, but it's not a safety thing. The HTR Z III isn't Sunny brand.

I agree, he sells DW's like hot cakes (high end European auto shop) so he knows they're good tires, couldn't pass up the deal. Might rock these for a bit and then put them on some other wheels and put some summer slicks on my K1's.
