    Smileys?

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy some smileys and from what I heard the Depos are the best. Hoping that someone can confirm this, as well as let me know if H1 bulbs fit in smileys. That's all

If you want the best, buy a clean set of OEM. Hella or Bosch.

Can you recommend a spot to buy em from? I'm looking to buy new. If you could be a super bro, can you send me links to both types?

You can't buy OEM new from what I understand, they are just a ton better quality and for purists it's also a Bonus, depos are fine for the money though.

What would be a decent price for Depos? And they look the same as the OEMs right?

Secondly, do they take H1 bulbs?

Additionally I have an 84 318i. I've noticed on eBay that some of the smileys are for late 80's models. If you guys can help and post some links to chrome smileys I'd appreciate the out of it. My headlights are shit right now and I need new ones ASAP

I don't know shit about depo's, guess it depends on what you are after.

                  http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=195668 These are depo's

                  Euro smileys take the H1
                  US Ellips take a 9006
Not sure on the Euro ellips offhand

City lights are found in smileys.

Used Hella Smileys in the classifieds here: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...hlight=smileys Condition isn't awesome, I almost bought them, was going to paint the rings black.

New, hard to find and hard to justify unless your car is equally special imo: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...ighlight=hella

These seem like a decent value (pretty clean) with HID's installed especially if they are morimoto HID's: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=285287

If you come across a drivers side Hella euro smiley, I've got a passenger side setup I'll sell you very reasonably. I drive through Fed Way twice a week.

                  Hope that's helpful

That's a fantastic post man, thank you. Do the Hella's have a red tint to em?

I guess the last question I have would be, out of the bulbs you listed, which ones are brightest? I'm definitely hooking up the parking/city lights when I buy em.

And one post you linked had a guy who installed HIDs. Is that a relatively easy thing to do with other smiley brands? Or is it only available to that one?

In comparison to the links above, what would you guys rank these in comparison?

No, the lights are all clear (unless you get smoked or french/yellow ones).

Bulb type doesn't really matter for brightness. I wired my city lights into my turn signals.

HID's are easy to do with all different types, there are plenty of threads here if you search around that will walk you through installing. Definitely recommended, they make a HUGE difference.

I got a set of DEPO's in December. My car sits outside most of the time and I still haven't had an issue. Only problem is they don't send adaptors for the city lights.
