    WTB: 318is - cash ready

FEELER: I am thinking of getting another e30, specifically a 318is though. I haven't seen any lately on craigslist or e30marketplace anywhere in the PNW. Does anybody have any that they would be willing to part with if I had cash in hand?

...otherwise I am looking at a 2002-2005 wrx wagon...

    Thanks

It will take a while to get a good 318is but it's worth it. I regret selling mine and finally found a good one, and they'll have to pry this one from my cold, dead hands. Wait for the 318is, you'll be glad you did.

my last e30 was an m20 and it was awesome but I think the 318is is perfect for what I need the car for...but they are becoming much more difficult to locate

If you can afford an '06-07 WRX wagon go with that. The 2.0L from the '02-05 is way under torqued. I absolutely loved my '02 WRX wagon but it was terrible driving around town and relied way too heavily on the turbo for highway hills. But a 318is is also a good option... Lol. Personally, I would only trade being able to own a WRX wagon again for a 24v E30.

WRX's are overrated. I had a 2001 outback sport with a 2002 WRX drivetrain/suspension/everything... swap. It was a fun car, and was plenty fast with the upgraded turbo I had on it, but the driving experience pales in comparison to my e30, which is bone stock.

Unless you've had an Impreza newer than '01 I wouldn't even compare them. I bet it was fast and all, but the OBS compared to the actual WRX is way cheesy. The interior is way cheaper feeling and the seats just don't compare at all. IMO. ;) Lol

I do admit that the driving experience isn't the same. But out in the PNW if you're going anywhere with a hill between Dec-March, it's not a bad idea to have a Subaru with snow tires.

Oh I had full wrx interior and everything. Everything from a crashed WRX was put into the OBS that I could. The WRX does have a nicer interior feel and all as compared to an OBS, but I'd take an e30 anyday.

Driving in the winter, that is a whole different story. Aside from the straight line acceleration, the only thing I miss from my Subaru was how planted and confident it felt driving through those wonderful NE snowstorms.

                THIS ^

the reason I am looking at the wrx wagon is cause it can easily accomodate a dog, bag of soccer balls and equipment (I coach), and you can put the roof rack on for bicycles, skis, etc during 4wd season...all in addition to the extra passengers in the back.

I know what I want though and I can wait for the right one. Its going to be a 318is or a 02-05 wrx wagon. I absolutely love e30's, I just haven't found any 318is' anywhere so I thought I would ask in the PNW section.

I miss the hell out of this car... for practicality purposes out here, if you can only own one car, I would say get a Subaru hands down. In the future, when I make it big, I'lll be buying another Subaru before I buy an E30 to do my dream build.
