Hello, all-
Just thought I drop an introduction.
Recently picked up my first BMW. It'll be my second European car. Volvo 245 being the first. These, behind a string of domestic 'classics' (obscurities).
I generally like boxy-style cars, and especially 'post' cars, so the '86 325 is a sure contender.
She's a bronzit coupe with the eta plant, an auto slush-box. Also, her fair share of bumps/bruises...
Been spending plenty if time surfing/searching the R3V pages-
...STEEP learning curve with all these quasi-German acronyms and alpha-numeric code names! Sheesh!
"Habla" has somewhat taken me under his wing. Thanks Pete!
Helping him with his m50b25tu swap is already a RAD project.
Been collecting parts to throw at my car, but since the previous owner never did a timing belt in the near-two-years he daily'd it from UnivercityPlace to Everett; that'll be the FIRST project.
pile o' parts includes an LSD, a full getrag 260 swap (thanks rand!), and a rear (only, so far) euro bumper.
The car was mysteriously missing it's deck-lid torsion springs, and the hood's gas-assist. Can't imagine why those would have been removed...
Anyway- already replaced via donor car.
Goals for this car aren't particularly lofty-
Priorities are as follows:
-Making mechanically sound (stage zero)
-improving 'fun to drive-ness' (stick/LSD)
-exterior appearance (sharp, straight, less-is-more kind of treatment)
-interior creature comforts (map light mirror, decent sound type things)
-adding small amounts of pep. (though, hoping to retain mostly-economical functionality)
Looking forward to 'bench racing' with y'all!
Seth
