    reputable paint shops near Portland

Hello PNW conspiracy. I am exploring the idea of taking my car up to Oregon for paint, because the results are generally better with solvent-based paint than with the water-based stuff we have to use in CA. Can any of you refer me to a bodyshop you like for laying down a nice coat of Alpine I on a already-primed-and-blocked-and-etc coupe?

    cheers

Is this for that badass early euro car you have? If so, awesome!

And good luck with your search.

Coachman Autobody in Clackamas, OR. Best I've seen. Used them 3 times. Ask for Bill Spalding.

I know WA uses water-based paint only, Oregon is still old-school?

Thanks for the refs! I actually should call them and find out if OR is still on solvent stuff. Finding legislation about this stuff kind of sucks.

And yeah, this is for my 323i. I need to do some rust repair first though.

Better hurry, it's probably not long before Oregon goes to water base.

Depends on how many cars the shop paints. I only painted maybe two cars a year my shop was exempt. Body/collision repair shops are required to have booths and certification for water based paints. Last I heard base coats and single stage water based paint were being widely used but not the clear. I have been out of the loop for a while so things may have changed.

Check out Bill Hall body & frame (503-257-9991) in Portland. Not cheap but great results from what I've seen and heard.
