Anyone have a line on a decent, non overheated M20b25 I can slap in my sedan? Figured it might make more sense to put another motor in it then do a head machining/head gasket job that could fail again. Might consider an M50 swap too. Need to start sourcing parts now, and a reasonable installer. The car id my dd.

I'll do the swap. There is an M50NV on Corvallis CL with a lot of swap parts needed for $800 iirc.

Couldn't find that ad on Corvalls CL...but I did find this one with an M20.... http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/pts/4261228290.html

Wondering why that car is getting parted out....

PM me with any ideas on which direction I should go, what kind of down time I'm looking at, and labor cost if you want...I'm motivated. My engines living on borrowed time I think.

Edit: crap I didn't realize you had one sitting around too. But not sure if its in any better shape then my motor. I don't have water/coolant mixing and my car is running great. But its leaking at the head/block seam. And I know my engine overheated before. Hell id even consider that S52 that's for sale here for a grand...but I'm suspecting it needs a lot more $ worth of pieces to get it in an E30. And work.

I'd do something different than an M20. I got mine back up and running, now I wish I had something else in it. Haha. I need more fast E30. ;) besides, when I had my M50 (my E36), it got better mpgs than the E30 ever did. I don't mind the M20, it was a good motor before I broke it. Haha. Those damn timing belts.. That's also why I want something else. No more timing belts!

I actually contacted that guy yesterday. That motor is pretty fucked and sounds like it'll require a crank-up rebuild before putting it back to work.

I actually tried to buy that silver sedan as a whole several months ago. It belongs to the brother of a local e21 guy. It was rougher than I wanted for my build (ended up doing an alpine euro converted early car) so I passed on it. Supposedly the motor just needed rod bearings, but I was gonna 24v it, anyway, so it didn't bother me. IIRC, it also had been towed behind a motor home with an a-frame tow bar for a significant amount of time, so that also kinda bothered me.

Yeah, I don't think my M20 is any better than yours. It had a misfire and some milkshake beginning to form. That S52 would be neat, but you'd be spending a lot to get all the misc parts (sensors, harness, DME, tune, etc), and it would probably just be easier to find a complete M50 and drop it in basically as it is.

PM/text me your budget and what you want to do and we can set something up. I've been wanting to do another swap lately...

Because I'm too fucking broke to do a 24v the right way. Unless you can can get the pieces and get them in my car for 1500 bucks.

Not right now, no. I need an engine and I'm shit out of luck, and the guy who sold the car lied to me when I bought it, so no....not really happy at the moment.
