In case you missed it, the fam and I are relocating to the Portland area in early-August, and I'm looking for a new job. Specifically in the cable/telecom industry.
I've been a contract cable installer for 6 years, and spent 5 years before that in the commercial and residential telecom/home theater and automation industry. I've installed home theater, whole house automation, security systems, telecom and fiber optic lines of all kinds, constructed and done finish wiring/install on IDF/server rooms, and installed cable/internet/phone services on nearly every kind of residential situation imaginable.
Downside is that I don't have a low-voltage license, I was an apprentice prior to being a cable installer, and the firm I was with laid me off before I could complete my apprenticeship.
I'm also interested in IT, tech support, networking, just about anything in the industry I can get my foot in the door at. I realize that having no license or technical certifications will limit my ability to get hired somewhere, but I'm hoping to be able to get on with a company that will take a chance and give me the opportunity to obtain those things. I've applied for 4 different positions with Comcast, but haven't heard anything back yet.
PM me if you've got a lead on anything, much appreciated.
