Moving! Raleigh, NC to Seattle, WA

This is a generic catch-all post, I'm driving cross country from Raleigh to Seattle at the end of August with a van and a trailer. Anybody have ideas on what parts are hard to come by on the west coast that I can get loaded up? Anybody need something brought up from the Carolinas/Virginia area?

Also, always on the lookout for E30 related things to do once I get to Seattle!

Working in downtown, living in Tukwila near the big light rail station. Figured that would be easier/cheaper than renting a parking spot downtown. I'm very excited to move, we got married out there a few years ago and really loved it so when I got the opportunity to transfer with my company I jumped on it. Bringing two E30's with me to boot.

Congrats and welcome! We have (had?) a fairly vibrant E30 community here, and you see plenty of E30s just being driven around. Also, the E30 Picnic is in this area each year.

We have, the problem is 95% of the E30 people are dysfunctional people who cant plan anything ahead of time even if they had 3 months.

When's the picnic this year? Might have to tag team it with my wife and her 4-door. Also, any good body shops in the area? PO did a crap job respraying and I'd like to start the process of getting some dings fixed up and a better paint job on there.

it was the 28-30 of june. there are a bunch of good paint shops around, depends on what you want to pay.

Or Renton, or Kent. Unless of course you can find a brilliant little house tucked away off the main areas. The ghettos and/or hicktownville vibes can be pretty strong. It doesn't bother myself as I grew up in these areas but still, there are some shady areas. If you're from East L.A. you'll think everyone's milk toast. If you're from the backwaters of home town cooking and family gatherings that the local Sheriff stops by to say "Howdy" at, you're in for a bit of a culture shock.

Either way, welcome and hope you enjoy it. It's a beautiful area.

Why do you say that? We have family there and the couple of times I've visited it hasn't been too bad. We're up closer toward Federal Way (near a couple of casinos and a golf course?)

I worked in tukwila. Lots of tweakers. I would avoid pacific highway.

Congrats! Seattle area has plenty to offer. Foods, cars, entertainments and outdoor activity. Also if you like constant drizzle, you will love Seattle.

Me and my wife did the opposite. We drove across the country from Seattle to Raleigh 7 mouths ago. And I can't wait to get back to Washington State.

You do not need to worry about bringing any spare parts. The Puget Sound and Portland area got plenty of e30 parts. More than you will ever find around this hell hole call North Carolina.

Have a safe and fun trip across the country. It truly is a once in a life time event that everybody should get to experience.
