    Rough Idle & High HC

So, I've been fighting a rough idle and failed smog ever since I put my E30 back together.

The full history is in the link below where I've ask the r3v community for help. However, I'm getting to the point where I want to take it to a shop . So, I thought I would solicit you locals for help and ask if anyone could recommend a shop.

I'm in the Beaverton/Aloha area, but I don't mind a little travel to take it to a respectable mechanic. There are two shops that I know of on my side of town, but I hear mixed reviews. I've spoken to one of the shops and they don't seem to have much experience with E30s and the manager doesn't seem to want me speaking to the mechanics.

    Thanks everyone!

catalytic converter could be shot. unburnt fuel comes out of the exhaust and stinks? looks like you have pretty much replaced and fixed everything else.

You probably have a vacuum leak and that is making the vehicle burn rich. Just ask a shop how much for a smoke test, should be about $50 tops and if they find an easy and cheap fix like a bad intake boot of something then great

Thank you both for the ideas.

I agree. I think it is time to take it to a shop and have them do a proper leak test. My little apparatus found a large exhaust leak, but I'm thinking the pressure is not enough to find the smaller leaks.
