Put the hood up and start waving people down, maybe a fellow BMW will come help. Other than that, what a good time to learn how to drive a stick!

Don't be stupid and keep driving either. Get your battery and charging system tested and figure out what's going on!

Most auto stores can test whether it's your starter, alternator, or battery. I do it at my work all the time, takes 5 mins. Though you can do a little detective work yourself: if you jump your car with another car and can take the cables off without your car dying, it's the battery. If the car dies when you take the leads off, your alt is cooked. But when this happened to me, it killed my battery as well. So if anyone tries to tell you both are done, they're not just trying to screw you over.

Don't worry. Not driving my car today.

I was just out of town for a month and the car just sat for that length of time. I came back and started it up, it was slow to turn over like the battery was low but it still fired up fine. I drove it around a bit to make sure the battery would charge back up.

Then I drove it to work and back yesterday fine (20min each way). Then ran an errand that evening and it was dead by the time I left the store.

Tomorrow is the day for diagnostics. I'll test the battery and alternator first, then I guess try to find a short somewhere that is causing the issue.
