Been there. Flatline lying out in a chum slick behind the boat in the Gulf.
That said, I still haven't learned to fish up here. It's just so different than saltwater fishing down in FL. Or even bass and bream for that matter.
The lady and I went a few months ago and only managed to bring home an empty cooler of beer.Derek-Comment

We'll change that.. I'll admit when I first tried fishing the gulf of the rocks, and piers of Galveston it was much different and I found myself watch others for the type of rig they were running.Comment

Ha, I was just at Cape Disappointment Saturday night for the Live Music with the family..
We hung out on the sand for a while, but after too many beached whale sightings, we decided to head back up top to the grassy area..1991 325i MT2 Touring (JDM bro)

I don't fish often, but I do clam a lot in Netarts Bay (Family has a house there). You can hit the limit on Gapers in 10min every time. Couple of good places near by for Razers and crabbing too... Or you can just wade out into the bay and catch red crabs all day.
I'd love to do a camping trip. None of my friends camp, so I usually solo camp and/or backpack. It is a little sad, I know.Comment

Down for some sort of r3v ocean adventure/camping. I like cape disappointment because you got a few choices of fishing. Black lake for bass and trout, jetty fishing for salmon or really annoying sculpins, or beach for surf perch.
Not keen on the way of crabs and clams, but I know I pull one up every so often haha.Comment

R3v camping, fishing trip? Im down, someone organize itComment

We have some good spot up towards the Klipsan exit just before ocean park that yield nice sized clams, also a couple holes for Surf perch.
As far as the crabbing goes, we have limited out numerous times on the jetty, the key is bait. We go clamming, clean the clams, save the guts, stuff the guts in ice cube trays and use those ice cubes to bait the the snare traps.. Just kills them.Comment

That's pretty clever. We just use old Salmon that's been chillin in the freezer for too long. No pun intended. WDFW came down Sunday and checked all our shit. But I did manage to ask him if Crabbing was open and the answer was no. :(
I probably won't head back out to the Jetty till middle of August since that's when the Salmon run will be at its peakComment

Im down for some camping/fishing ones I get more settled up here. Still looking for a place to live.
I havent done any fishing for a while but I used to do a decent amount of fresh water fishing with my dad up in the Sierras, and in Germany with my gramps. Iv done a small amount of salt water stuff as well off some docks in the Bay Area.
I have a 4x4 if the need for some trail blazing comes up. Iv done some trout fishing near fire roads before and its real fun.
Ill keep an eye on this thread.sigpic

I'm in for a camping/fishing/hunting trip myself. Especially if we can get some 4x5 vehicles along.
Best way for us to learn is from you locals. Let's set it up! Looks like enough people are in even quickly.Derek-Comment

I'm on board! My current setup is running 15 pound mono though and it's brand new.. Maybe I'll just run liter of multifilament so I dont have to retie as often.
EDIT: or if I can find my abu box I have a composite spool I can just lineComment
