Anybody know this motor?

Picked it up locally on Craigslist for next to nothing and it appears to have been turbo'd at some point. The guy I got it from said it came out of a red 325is that was n/a when he got it, and didn't know the cars history. Just thought I'd see if anybody recognized the beautiful JB weld craftsmanship and could give more info...
