    FS: 2000 528 Wagon 5-speed

    Price: $4500 OBO

For Sale: 2000 BMW 528 Wagon. I got this wagon approximately three years ago to use as my daily driver. I got this particular car because it came with a hard to find 5-speed and sport package. The black leather interior is in good shape with no cracking. The power front seats works as do all other electrics.
Once I got it home I noticed the radiator was leaking. Since I wasn't sure on the condition of the rest of the cooling system I ordered a kit from Bavarian Auto that replaced the radiator and all hoses I also noticed there were some oil leaks around the valve cover so I had a new one installed and any leaking hoses replaced. In addition to that I replaced all the coils and spark plugs.
I addition to that the "three lights of death" were on. This implied that either the wheel speed sensors were bad or the abs control module was bad. I replaced the two rear sensors and discovered it was the control module. I ordered a rebuilt part from Module Masters.
While replacing the sensors I noticed the brakes didn't look in very good shape and ordered a brake kit from Bavarian Auto. So it has all new rotors and pads at each corner
During this time I had been driving the car regularly and began to notice the suspension seemed soft. Back to internet to order some shocks (Bilstein Touring) and associated hardware (including upper mounts). I replaced the tie-rods and sway bar end links.
The rear hatch had the notorious failing gas shocks so I ordered replacements and installed them. Now both the glass hatch and tailgate stay open and don't drop on your head.
Obviously on a car this age there are some "unique" points. The headlights work fine but have condensation on the inside of the lenses. Doesn't affect visibility but is annoying to look at. The cup holders in the center console (both front and rear) are broken. They are useless so I have never replaced them. Car has high mileage at 226,000 miles. Runs great and for what it is worth each mechanic that has worked on it is great mechanical shape for its age. There are assorted dings in the body with the worst being the bumper covers (though there is nothing major). There are a couple of dead pixles on the radio (common).
In summary, this car isn't a show winner but it is a great daily driver. If someone were so inclined it could be restored to its former glory with little time and money. So why am I selling? Simply I have too many cars. I would like to keep this one but unfortunately I have a Subaru Forester that fits my needs better. My asking price is $4500 but I am negotiable (within reason). I am open to trades though I need to see at least $2500 cash on top of any trade. I also prefer someone see the car before they give an offer (unless it is my full asking price). That way I can point out all the pluses (and minuses) for any prospective buyer. Additional pictures are available on request.

Yeah, It is a pretty nice car but I have too many at the moment. If I can sell the others before this sells I may keep it.
