                                          What do the crank, spacer, and rods accomplish? I have a spare stock block, trying to decide how to build it up…

                                              2.8 stroker is what that will get you. You could bore it out more and possibly get to 2.9.

                                                  This. It will get you 2.8, the Mahle pistons are an overbore so they are what gets it to 2.9L
