Well I bought these BBS LM rims a couple of weeks ago of Craigslist( still on the fence about getting rid of my RS rims) so they are 7.5 X 17 ..4 on a 100, e30 fitment, 40mm offset... so I looked up the +3 on Tire Rack.. They listed a 205/45-17 fitment for a this car... I sure hope they were right... Tires came the other day... and I mounted them up... I'm note they are going to be correct.. The price was right for sure.. The car has Bilstein with H&R springs.. I lowered the car some... not whole lot in my book... Thank you for any advice..
Hmm The Tire Rack , tires size correct ?

yea 205 45 16, and 17 is what a lot if not most people run
you wont have any issues, i run 205 45 16 on my e30, and have had 0 issues -
im running a 205 40 on the e36 and bigger tires arrived today. its not much meatComment

It really depends on the offset of the wheels, ride height, stiffness of suspension, etc. Most likely, you will be ok, but through corners, it may catch the fender. I would have played it safe with a 40 profile, but you've already got tires.

205s are too narrow on a 7.5" wheel IMO, they looked stretched. 215 would be better and I'd even run a 225.
A 205/45-15 is closer to stock than a 205/40-15, but only by a difference of 1% (+1.2% compared to -2.1%).
215/40-17 or 225/40-17 would also be very close to stock, but you might rub inside the fender.Comment

If they're really 40 offset, the front wheels will probably rub the struts. I'm on H&R race springs with e90 top hats.
On here, the orange is what I have and I clear the wheel and strut by 1-2mm and the tires never rub.Comment

OP, What tires did you end up getting? I am trying to get pics of various 205/45 on 17x7.5" or 17x8" wheels, to decide if a 205/45r17 will work on my 17x8". If you can share what tires you bought I would appreciate it, so I can look up the specs of them.
And if anyone else wants to chime in, I am specifically considering the 205/45r17 Michelin Pilot Super Sport, which has a 8.5" sidewall and 7.7" tread width, but I am worried they will still look pretty stretched. I also am considering the Continental EC Sport, which has a decent 8.8" sidewall, but only a 7" tread width. Otherwise I am looking at various 215/40's, but I was hoping to get a 45 sidewall to help protect the rims against Seattle roads.

205/45-17 is a correct diameter tire. A bit narrow for those wheels, but workable.
You're going to need spacers to make that wheel offset work, however. Figure 10-15mm for a stockish type look.2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4WD LBZ/Allison
