    boise area????

I am looking for someone in the boise area that has experience working on E30's. My timming belt needs changed so i am told. It is due on age but not milage. I am dumb when it comes to cars. Looking for someone to help ne do it so i dont pay out the nose at the shop. i am scared to drive the car too much because i dont want it to break, the belt that is.

    thanks

You're not dumb, what you are doing seems smart to me. :) Sorry I can't help though. Do you have the manual for our cars by Bentley?

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

^voted the best first post of a noob ever. And no - I'm not fucking with you.

You are right to try and find someone in your town to help you with it - even then, it's not a "slam dunk" - but it's not rocket science.

It's also a great time to replace your water pump, thermastat, and flush your coolant.

I recommend getting two gallons of the "blue stuff" right from the dealer(aka the "stealler") parts department. The "flush" only takes a garden hose and a gutter near by. Remember - cats and dogs think that anti-freeze is candy, so if you leave a big puddle of it on the road, some poor dog will lick it up and die. Be sure to wash it away.

While you are in there, pull off your cap and rotor. Half the time you can just use the blunt side of a screwdriver to scrape away any carbon build up. If it looks super pitted or green - order a new one.

              Welcome to BMW's!
