    We've put those x braces to good use in my buddy's e36 m3. Left a chip and a small dent on the x brace from the rock he hit. Was a good sized rock too.

    truth, I have bottomed out a SLAMMED e36 and nothing happened to the oil pan, it's not the lowest point... same with e46's.. That being said, it's nice to have the plate in case you hit a huge hole in the road or some sort of hard debri...

    Oh and e36s are rear sump, thats why you need an e34 oil pan for a 24v swap.
