University of Washington?

Good school? Thoughts?

I'm looking for a school to finish off my marketing studies, and thought about doing so on the west coast. So far (on paper), UW seems like it's a good school.

Thoughts, opinions, suggestions?

UW is nice, but its very competitive for alot of programs. I was accepted there and bowed out because the direction alot of their computer related studies goes is.. well.. useless and inapplicable in the real world.

I think there's probably better places for a marketing degree as well. Not to mention unfortunately marketing is going to suck to get a job in with the economy right now :p Selling things to people who dont want to buy anything at all will be a challenge

Bear in mind I am not a U.S. Citizen, so I have to deal with out-of-state fees. (One reason why UW seems promising).

I've been researching CA as well, but out-of-state fees there are ridiculous for almost all good universities. It's almost like they want us to fund the mess their state is in :p

UW is a good school I have several friends who go there and like it but dont stay in the dorms. They are packed.

International students are the same as out-of-state students. So same out of state fees apply... there are some other fees to the government (regarding the visa), but to the university, someone from the state next door is no different than an international student.

The little I've spent in California was enough to truly admire the place for what it is... but it's almost double a year in tuition fees. That's absurd! And UW so far as I've seen, UW is rated right there with some of CA's best business schools.

UCs are very expensive and very competative for out of state students to give CA residents an advantage.

UW is one of the better state schools in the US, although I can't speak for their marketing program.

Miami to Seattle eh? You realize what the weather is like up here, right?

I havent lived in Miami all my life, just good part of it. Brazil actually gets pretty cold (although WA would still beat it by a margin). Not exactly thrilled by the idea of winter, but for a year or two to complete my studies, then why not?

UW's a great school for the money. Environment is great. Weather isn't as bad as people say it is.

I just graduated from UW's Tacoma campus business school. I took a couple classes through the Seattle campus and have a few friends that went/are in the business school there. I thought the caliber of teaching was great and would recommend. They are building a sweet new business school building as we speak too. Your degree will be valuable.
