I don't think you can use Boy Scout knots while being a member of the Mcmuffin crew.. That must violate some law of nature...
However, they did keep the "compound" off the ground during some of the storms we have seen..
Use those knots and come on.....:D
It would be awesome to have a moon like what is out tonight while up at look rock.. Beautiful !!!
We need to plan the spring session according to the moon cycle...
Someone say amen ?sigpicComment

got that itch didn't you , lol . boost is a funny thing , very addictive and you always eventually want more , I upped mine to 9 lbs to see what it was like when i got back from the mountains , and it was alot more than i expected , but noticed a little preasure in the coolant system , so i had to back her down to 8 , now it feels slow again , lol . I need a megasquirt. hope nothings messed up on your car though , I hope to see it in the spring when we come back up.sigpic

HAha, I can't resist scratching that itch most of the time.. I did rebuild the blower with updated coated rotors.. Added a bypass setup to help idle and 36lb injectors.. Oddly now, I am getting the same thing, pressure in the cooling system.
Did backing boost off help that problem ? Mine doesn't seem to stop doing it even if I drive easy.. I feel like I may have caused a split in the head gasket and it won't go away... No mixing of fluids or the usual symptoms of it being blown though.
While I have it apart I may as well put the euro head on...
I think the bottom end is fine though... Can't be sure till she's opened up for surgery...:)
edit; wait a minute... You mean your not coming for the fall fun ? Matt has a good excuse.. But you?...:)sigpicComment

yeah its a busy time for me , so I will be there next time , backing the boost down helped mine go away , but I also have an mls headgasket so mine was probably just lifting the head a bit. I still have a stock chip and all , so the threshold for that is 8 psi with no timing changes . 9 psi was definatly pretty noticible over 8 , so I think it was a little lift on the head for me. you may just have to turn it down a lb or so or mess with your tuning a bit to get it to go away.sigpic

Just giving you a hard time... You will both be missed though.. You have both become a regular fixture at the rallys if you knew it or not....:)
I have megasquirt so I can play with the adjustments. I had a decent dyno tune on it before but I have made changes.. Even though I think they are fairly minor as far as the overall setup goes.. We'll see..
Hope to see you all in the spring for sure !!
edit; I think I may have to do arp studs or something to hold the head down if I try to get any higher...Last edited by tn325i; 10-06-2009, 05:19 PM.sigpicComment

definatly arp's or metric blues , try that mls headgasket too , you can get it in a variety of thicknesses from ireland engineering or tcd. but yep , I already am antsy to go , but know I'm not going to be able to sucks . how much boost did you up it to anyways? has to be over 9:psigpic

Don't know for sure.. I was pushing some where 8-10 I think.. I have only run it hard a couple of times since the work and then it started pressurizing the cooling system..
I am trying to source some non stretching bolts locally.. From reading many, many threads some turbo guys are running 1bar plus on a stock gasket but with non stretching bolts torqued to about 65-70ftlbs.. Some are using ARP and some sourced aftermarket.
A good tune doesn't hurt either... Hard to do without a dyno though.. We'll see..sigpicComment

My last dose of off topic for this thread...
I pulled the head today and on #1 cylinder I had some distortion in the gasket.. Not a lot but just enough to blow cylinder pressure into the cooling jacket.. Introducing air which we all know kills the ability for it to cool properly. A new gasket and another head on tomorrow.. Snowflake WILL be attending the Rally....:):):)
Sorry, now back on topic...
Got word that we will have some firewood delivered and the cost for a load is gonna be about $60. It will be enough to make the weekend. Last time we seemed to have plenty..
Wood will be distributed according to contributions... Or you can bring your own...
(oops, did I say that out loud).....:)sigpicComment
