Actual ATL shops worth a shit?

Im looking for a legit 3rd party to take my car to. Long story short I just got it running again and I would like to have someone with a lift look it over (I cant do it in an apt, miss the house :( ) to see if there is anything pressing that needs to be addressed after having it basically non-running for 6 months.

So far it seems to drive/idle well, just a wicked ticking sound (that seems too slow to be the head, possible belt).

Im in the Emory/Buckhead/whatever area if that narrows down the list.
    Im now E30less.

Not terribly close to you, but Bavarian Motor Cars in Alpharetta is a GREAT shop. The owner John is an awesome guy who knows his shit like no one I've ever met before. Hell just the other day I took my car over there and he put it up on a lift and gave it a look-over - for free.

Experience unmatched luxury vehicle care at Bavarian Motor Cars. Our experts ensure top performance with integrity and excellence. Visit us today!

Absolute best shop I've ever been to.

I like the guys at Buckhead Motor Works, but I deal with them about race cars, not actually have them work on my car.

They have experience on the older BMWs, which may be helpful to you.

If I take it to someone you know then he would tell you all how much of a piece of shit my car actually is in person.

Way Motor Works is in Atlanta. http://www.waymotorworks.com/directions.html He used to work for Dreyer & Reinbold BMW/MINI in Indianapolis and has been working on MINIs and BMWs independently for at least 5 years, now.

+3 for RWL. Just look at the cars they have around waiting to be worked on and you will know. Brendan in the man.

I have used Strictly German up in Braselton. Always had great results and can't beat Bobby's prices. Good selection of used parts on hand and cheap turn-key 24v swaps.

                      Ryan,
Most of the shops mentioned do great work.
One of my buddies that used to own his own shop and is now in Marietta, rents a place and sells cars as well. Great mechanic, I did not feel like changing out my clutch on my e30 vert on Jack stands. I took my car over to him a several years back at lunch time (from recommendations) and he changed my clutch in 60 min. He answered the phone a few times or it would have been 45 min. He is reasonable pm me for his number.

Jason's a great guy, and saved our butts on many a long road-trip in a crappy car. They also have experience with E30s. All of their mechanics are nice, and will actually talk to you.

Strictly German is a great shop, too. Bobby's been a friend for years. If you go here, ask to see the E30 touring with the S52.

That is a terrible idea, I might try and buy it.

                            I like Harrison Motorsports, personally.

We are lucky to have a lot of decent and a few really great indy shops in the area.

                              Buckhead Motor Works is excellent.
Been around since the mid 80's.
Works on old and new - with very good knowledge of both.

If its the Brandon I know, then he learned most of his trade at Buckhead Motor Works.

BTW, Tony (the head guy) and I built 3 e30's for SCCA ITS. I have not seen better prepared e30's anywhere.
