    Official August 20,21,22, "Retreat From the Heat" Run..

    For all the South Eastern folks who could use a break from the August heat... We are planning a run /camping trip to Balsam Mountain Campground for a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It sits between Cherokee and Maggie Valley N.C.. Some of the most beautiful area in the entire smokies.

    Campground elevation approx 5300'. The highest camping area in the entire Smokie Mtns. We went last year the daytime highs were barely 70 degrees and night temps were mid to upper 40s.. This is in the middle of August...

    I may add a list if interest is sufficient.. I know about a half dozen people who are already planning to go.. The Tail Of The Dragon should be open by this time also..

    The DRAGON IS NOW OPEN.....

    edit, Oh yeah, almost forgot... This is where the Park folks have placed MANY herds of Elk.. Some beautiful animals... You will see herds of them around the campground area roads...

                          You college folks need to learn the art of working ahead of your syllabus. Frees you up for fun stuff without the worry of falling behind.

                                              I really want to go now, Since the dragon is open again.. I hate to wait more weeks...

                                              Only thing is the Dragon was closed so long it is mega busy right now...
