You know, you shouldn't lie about things on the internet, it's not very nice. But it's just plain stupid to make things up when it's pretty obvious the rest of the story is probably out there on film somewhere.
I shouldn't even have to post this since your comment doesn't make sense anyway. First off, it's clear from the original video that I didn't pass your boy Tristan like a jackass. In fact I didn't pass him at all, he let me by in quite the dramatic fashion I must say. :nice:
As far as passing you, it wasn't in a corner, it was in a small straight away right before a corner. Go to 5:10 in this video:
Please explain how I was a jackass with that pass. Except for the sound of the exhaust pipe (which isn't really even that bad compared to many out there), the pass shouldn't have affected you in any way. You didn't need to swerve, slow down, or change your line in any way.
It's not uncommon for people to call motoryclist a "jackass" when they pass a car quickly, but most of the time it's because they don't realize that it is actually the safest way. Since you claim to ride as well, you should already be aware of that fact, but I guess not. When at the gap or other roads (like this one), I try to get past people as soon as possible. Usually they don't even realize I'm there until I'm in front of them and out of harms way. It may seem rude, but the alternative is worse. If I slow down, it makes the eventual pass more dangerous since I lose all my momentum and end up spending more time accelerating past in the other lane. If I stay behind you, two things usually happen. You are constantly looking in the mirror instead of on the road in front of you (obviously dangerous). Or you speed up and drive/ride beyond your or the vehicles capabilities trying to go at my pace instead of your own (ever hear the term "ride your own ride"?). We all saw what happens with the latter. Now tell me, after rewatching the video, was the pass really that bad?
By the way, cool site. I love the E30's. Been wanting one for awhile now. Joined just cuz I felt like setting the record straight, but I might hang around a bit if you don't mind.Comment

What's wrong with a little wheelie on an open road with nobody around? It was in control and in an appropriate place. I don't go out and do them in traffic on the interstate, but the right time and place, why not. It's my bike and body afterall.
Innocent? Never said I was innocent, but I make an effort to not ride over my head or put other people besides myself in danger when I ride. You may not realize it, but I was keeping a good bit in reserve in that video. Don't believe me? Did I ever go over the yellow line on accident?
Unlike your boy Tristan, did I ever lose control? I know what my bike is capable of and that was nowhere near it's limits.
Buncha hypocrites I tell ya. Your boy Tristan slid into the other lane and would have killed someone had there been anyone coming, yet none of you said anything about his driving. You defended him saying it was the brake's fault. LOL, yeah, him hammering down on the gas had nothing to do with it.

As far as passing on the double, I'll say it again, it was a safe pass. It was IN A STRAIGHT and I had plenty of room. Yes there was a turn coming up, so? I could have come to a complete stop before that turn if I wanted to. Have any of you ridden a modern sportbike? Do you realize what they can do?
Do you know how they decide what lines are solid and what are dotted and therefore legal to pass? I'm not going to give you a full lesson in traffic engineering, but I'll tell you one thing, the calculation aren't based on the performance of a sportbike. It's based on the lowest common denominator of car/driver combo, neither apply in this case. Say what you want, but double yellow doesn't automatically mean unsafe. That pass wasn't even close to being dangerous.
The thing is, I'm not even out to badmouth Tristan for his error. We all make mistakes at times. The important thing is to learn from them. That's why I posted up the video. If someone simply admits they screwed up, then I'll leave them alone. But try to make excuses... well that tells me you haven't learned a damn thing and it will probably happen again.
Tristan, nice car bro, just take it a little easier next time. Get that ABS or whatever fixed and we'll do a run together next time you are in the area.Comment

My point being is you came here to troll... "Jackass Biker". So let's not play coy and like you didn't want some sort of debate, fight or to troll. You did. It is hard to really play that game when your defense video you are clipping 100 mph, passing on a double yellow into a corner and doing wheelies.
I'll play your little game. Car comes around corner and sees you in their lane. What does that 'lowest common denominator' do? He/she freaks out and swerves? Maybe hits you? Maybe drives off the road and crashes? What about that LCD behind you? Your sport bike stops real fast. The Ducati 999 I rode did as well... how do you think that pickup truck stops? When you have to get over, get on the stoppers hard and then what? He swerves? Plows into you stopped? What other items could happen?
See where I am going?
This area of the US can be very fun and as I am sure you know it can be VERY dangerous. Adding to the danger with maneuvers like yours(and I know we are all guilty) simply isn't needed. And your video really isn't supporting your case.
Least you ride a Kawasaki. That is at least something you do right ;)Comment

Sorry, but I just couldn't resist coming over when I finally found the thread with the owner of the car. There was a full on search for the guy on the other forum. They wanted to make an example out of him like the dude in the mr2 who drifted around a blind corner, but I voted against it since this was obviously an honest mistake.
I understand what you are saying, and agree to an extent (especially about the kawasaki part :)). But saying I would be to blame for someone coming the other way and freaking out because they don't know how to drive properly just isn't something I agree with. I wasn't passing "into" a corner, I passed before a corner. There is a big difference. I was back in my lane way before the turn and anyone coming the other way at anywhere near the speed limit would have had plenty of time to guage the situation and react (or actually not react in this case).
I'm not innocent, there have been passes that I'm not proud of and were probably too close, but this isn't one of them. And even if it was, I don't think it should have been used as a reason to blow off a potential VERY dangerous mistake by another, which is the way it came off when the guy made the original statement.Comment

Honestly guys, both parties weren't exactly acting in a lawful manner and both could have been considered at fault had their been a wreck.
It seems like I see a lot of both bikers and car guys bickering about things that happen in this area of the US. Bikers complain of irresponsible drivers that don't pay attention to their presence and car guys bitch about bikers acting like they own the road.
As we all know from the tragedies that happen all to often on US129 that if 2 parties are involved most likely both made mistakes that contributed to the incident. I'm not condoning these activities just stating that if you're going to play together on these roads don't get butt hurt when you lose control or take a dive.

I've ridden and ride modern street-bikes daily. You were riding for the adrenaline and I completely understand that, I would of gladly pulled off for you if you would of given me the chance. But I'm not butt hurt, I may have been a little rash with the jackass comment, but you were riding pretty aggressive (although I'm sure you know the roads well). Welcome to the site. it was my fault i know and it sucked that i left the abs unplugged and just realized at that second , and i do know the limits to my car although i was running a bit more boost than i ever have up there , but yes it was a simple mistake and i am glad that it turned out ok with only my butt hurt . i was just getting excited to finally be getting close and driving slow for the past 5 hours so no harm no fowl . i am pretty happy it happened there and not on the dragon.sigpic
