If your in greensboro area I need to pick your brain

I traded my calypso e30 for this grey 325is that was alittle cleaner so I could trade it for the m3 that I want with some cash. Anyway I don't want to keep the guy waiting much longer for his car but I'm stuck. The 325is was supposed to only need a head but once I took the head off the block was shot also. I took everything and changed it over to a new block and head that I got for a good price ( shout out to B Randon !!!! nice guy, great prices, worth the drive). Anyway I thought I was about done. I put the lowering springs on the car and took it for a test drive.... I didn't make it back put it that way. I was driving and then it just turned off and would turn over but not start again. sounds like out of gas... I think its the fuel pump acting up so I'm going to check it out today. My main questions are these 1. what would make it idle ruff like a vacuum leak but not a vacuum leak? 2. Are 325i and 325is fuel pumps the same? (im about to do a switharoo) 3. Anybody want to hang out and help lol? I would drive to you but I took the springs off my other car so Im stuck till I get this car running now. Just Pm me your number if you want free food and male bonding lol

No I don't but I will pm you mine.

Also update.. So I took the fuel pump out of my 90 325i put it in and it started.
then I turned it off checked all the fuses according to this

then tried to start it and nothing...

I plugged the pump back in my other car and it still worked.

so I compared the fuses to my running car checking every one.
then took out the main and fuel pump relay from my parts car and put them in and it started again.

then i turned it off to finish tightening the fuel hose on the fuel pump
then tried again and it wouldn't start.

I basically have no clue why its not starting. but I have learned that valuable lesson of don't buy something you cant drive first...

Did you check your relays....fuel and main, easy to swap out if you got spares.

        Edit...you checked the relays. Nevermind.

when you put your head on, make sure you didn't mess up you crank position sensor. That could be it.

thanks art :) It was the dme not getting power. for now I jumped the relay from the main relay. I dont know if this is a long term fix, but Im not sure how else to solve the problem
