if you have a job setup in the area already it is a great city.
if not it can be a bit harder than some places to find a serious job

but overall it has a good atmoshpere and is fairly close to some amazingly fun
mountain roads. ..... like tail of the dragon is not a far drive.... could easily make
a day of it out of Greenville

Strong economy and job market. Decent downtown. Located at the base of the foothills. Great hiking, golf, mountain driving, etc. No frost so the roads are quite smooth. I would say 8/10 for low car friendliness.

We have GE turbines, BMW North America plant, Michelin NA plant, Mitsubishi, Borg Warner, (etc), and the droves of supporting shops. This is especially beneficial if you are in engineering. You can't throw a slide rule around here without hitting an engineer. I don't have experience outside of engineering and commercial construction though.

My family transplanted here ten years ago and I can't bring myself to leave for anything.

EDIT: I see you're an aircraft mechanic. I don't know anything about the local aviation field.

              I agree with this completely.

I've lived here for 19 years, seen Greenville turn into the city it now is.

As far as the aircraft jobs, I have a few buddies who work for Boeing...Lockheed Martin, and the Donaldson center.

Same story here. Moved to Greenville at the age of 5. 22 years later, I've turned down triple my salary to stay here. If you have a job or can transfer, you'll be fine. If looking, I wouldn't want to search the job market here. Super strong economy and one of the top 25 cities to ride out the recession, but jobs are filling fast.
