    Knoxville Little Help

I am putting the tranny back in my car and need a deep well 30mm socket, if anyone lives close to me (Halls/Gibbs) and could help me out with the socket for like 5 minutes I would be in your debt, I just spent a lot of $ and I am broke in E30 goodness for the month now says the wife lol.

Would like to add I will even buy the socket, I just don't want to buy the hole set or buy the big axle one and have to turn it down because I have to get the car going this weekend. But hey sometimes it just has to wait lol.

What do you need a deep well 30mm for? Putting trans back into car doesn't require that size socket.

The trans from the 86 has the small output shaft/guibo, so I have to take the output shaft off my old tranny and swap it over. The trans I have is the exact same trans model number and all but the output shaft to driveshaft triangle is different. I am glad I kept that tranny now lol.

Good deal! You might need to heat up the nut because sometimes it won't back out due to the red loctite used.

I also tried texting you some pics of the tool I made to split case open but the texts won't go through. PM me a working number or email I can send you some pics to help you if needed.

Will MAPP gas work or do I need to break out the torch?

Mapp gas would be plenty I would guess.

Also I hear you can rest a big combo wrench across the trans mount bosses and under the trans flange so as to keep the flange from turning while you crank on it.

That triangle being the flange and the little ^ being the trans bosses. And I believe the combo wrench is a clear masterpiece of emoticon perfection...

LOL roger that, I actually have a pipe fitters pipe wrench, I can set it to hold the triangle itself and have 20" of leverage. It will be like I made a tool to hold 2 of the 3 bolt holes in comparison but I also see no problem with what you also mentioned if said tools were not available.
