I am putting the tranny back in my car and need a deep well 30mm socket, if anyone lives close to me (Halls/Gibbs) and could help me out with the socket for like 5 minutes I would be in your debt, I just spent a lot of $ and I am broke in E30 goodness for the month now says the wife lol.

What do you need a deep well 30mm for? Putting trans back into car doesn't require that size socket.

Good deal! You might need to heat up the nut because sometimes it won't back out due to the red loctite used.

I also tried texting you some pics of the tool I made to split case open but the texts won't go through. PM me a working number or email I can send you some pics to help you if needed.

Also I hear you can rest a big combo wrench across the trans mount bosses and under the trans flange so as to keep the flange from turning while you crank on it.

That triangle being the flange and the little ^ being the trans bosses. And I believe the combo wrench is a clear masterpiece of emoticon perfection...Last edited by Ether-D; 09-26-2014, 06:47 PM.Originally posted by Andy.BWhenever I am about to make a particularly questionable decision regarding a worryingly cheap diy solution, I just ask myself, "What would Ether-D do?"
