I think the seperate Southeast & Northeast meet ups might be a better idea as well.

If Knoxville is decided as a location then I have a house in a quiet culdesac with plenty of parking room and extra cool neighbors. I would be more than willing to host some kind of cookout there as well.

Yeah.. I've never been to the NOPI Natls before and always heard it was fun.. but after I visited their website I found that it might be true if I was a wigger with a riced out Honda Civic.

I just wandered into this thread and didn't read the preceding 6 or so pages, so forgive me if I'm a little off base.
You guys have some good ideas. TOD is a ton of fun and about perfect for cars of the E30's capabilities. The downside is there is no place to stay that is right there; you have to travel into that area. Not a big deterrent, but something to consider.
I think for a first meet attempt, trying to do one big one may be too difficult. Having north and south may actually be a good idea. And, I'd hold them on seperate dates just in case a few guys/gals want to try to make both.
For the northeast, you may want to consider doing it around the Import Carlisle weekend. The BMWCCA usually has a pretty good turnout there, you may find some bargains at the flea market, and the location is reasonably central to the northeast and even midwest folks. I suggested this for the Audi 4000/GT guys about 3 years ago and it's turned into a pretty big annual thing for them.
Just my based on past experience.

If this fuckin country wasnt so big we could have a large national meet where itd be do-able for everyone. I mean fuck I think SF is far for SigFest next month and thats still in Cali. I dunno why I just said that. I offered no solution.

Tail of the dragon. I think I posted a link somewhere earlier in the thread. I think that Chattanooga or Nashville either one would be good choices. Gatlinburg is also a possible meeting area with lots to do outside of the meet itself, so we wouldn't get bored. I don't know about hotel prices and what-not so don't bombard me with negatives about that. Again, we can have the choice of camping or hotels, or w/e else individuals choose. I don't mind driving a short distance to do something like the Dragon if I've already driven 7/8hrs to begin with. What's another hour?

Dave suggested mid June but the problem I have with that personally is it is beginning to get hot by then. IF no one else objects to mid June as a POSSIBLE time, then we can heavily consider that. Of course, the Dragon is a good bit north of me, so it will be a bit more temperate there anyway so maybe no big deal.

June in the mountains of TN isn't like it is in your part of Mississippi. I've been to places like Jackson and Forest that time of year - I assume in Laurel its similar. It shouldn't be like that in TN.

South Carolina (Charleston) is a sweet town to do stuff in...but I dunno if that works for the rest of ya'll.

I can't swing a 14 hr drive each way for a possible 3 day weekend.....I just can't... if anybody has any suggestions for the NE guys to make it, then let us know...

The furthest i think i would make it is Virginia...

I still say a weekend in VA is the best option for people up north and down south so that its about an equal driving distance. Its either that or do a NE and a SE meet.

Actually the Gatlinburg sounds like the best option so far probably one of the better meeting places for those who want to go on a Dragon run.

If we did decide to meet up we should probably make it some time in Mid-Late Sept. to Early Oct.

You can count me in for a Dragon run if we decide to have one.

What about trying to plan it for late spring or early summer?

If we do that I think it might be better camp out somewhere.. cheaper too.
