Southeast Fall Rally Date / Location

I've had some questions about the 08 Southeast Fall Rally and I wanted to get everyone elses opinion before we set an official date and time.

Late October works best for me preferably after my last chemo treatment (Oct. 2nd provided I have no complications) and before I start my radiation treatments.

We had also discussed the possibility of camping / driving somewhere other than the Dragon / Smoky Mtns this time. I am open to options but if we want the freedom to drink alcohol we have to camp in a Federal Park since TN State parks prohibit drinking at the campsites.

    Discuss.

I'm in. I'll go anywhere. October is good for me. I'm sure all the regulars will have some input.

Where ever it ends up we just need to make sure when and if the camp ground chosen closes for the season, so you guys (LOL) don't end back up on top of Cades Cove camping in 20 degree weather again...

I'm in, as long as it's still within 300 miles of me.

Look Rock campground is open through Friday, 10/31. I feel weekend of the 17-18-19th or 24-25-26th would be a good time to schedule gathering. Again, I can go anytime. Input from others?

Not if you are sporting 3.2L of 24v valve fun by then... :eeek:

J/k I might be in, just depends on whats going on with me at the time. Life for me is getting a bit hectic for the next several months, but with enough advance notice I should be down.

come down to the coast guys! Srsly.
There are lots of twisties, good drives, cool things to see, I can hook up a dyno day, BBQ at my house, camping nearby... I have a garage FULL of tools so we can have a wrench/repair day(s). The only thing I don't have is a lift.
Or if you just want to camp/drink, you can do that too.
The weather shouldn't be too bad around the beginning of October, either.

Just a consideration, though. The last week in september is Oktoberfest/H20I. So maybe a couple weeks break, because I plan on going to one of those.

The only bad thing about coming out here is how far it is. But, I PROMISE, it's nice.

zip is 28532. Check it out on the map.

I like the 24 25 26. That gives robert plenty of time to get feeling better. I might even have my car running by then........

Someone mentioned at the last meet possibly camping out in far East TN and drive the less crowded HWY 421 through the Appalachan Mtns and through TN, VA, and NC.

Lots of scenery, 3 state drive, less bikers and chance of getting pulled over.

Here's kinda what I had in mind.

I'd think the the dragon will be mostly retard and cop free at the end of october. But I'm down for some new roads if someone knows of some.

So far the worst part about that is it is a very long drive and I could only find two places to camp.

                              We only need one :)

We could always change the route since there are tons of mountains roads all over the place.

I think someone doesn't want to be away from their cabin. ;)
