So I thought I'd pass on the good word! I went over to ripley's to get my mandrel bent exhaust done because I've heard nothing but good reviews from them! So I took the half hour trip in that terrible houston traffic and heat, just to find out that the price they gave me on the phone ($500) was not true, and without even taking one look at my car, told me it would cost at least $2000. I did not waste any more time there... and I don't recommend any of you waste any time at Ripley's either..
So then at the costco meet this weekend, someone recommended affordable muffler. I figured it was worth a go, so I went down there and was thoroughly impressed!
When I was talking to the guy, he listened to everything I had to say, and had all the right ideas and knew exactly the direction I was heading with the exhaust. He wasn't scared of the idea that there was some custom junk in there, and he was understanding when I told him I needed mandrel bends. He told me he could source them but it would cost a lot of money, or I could source them. So I went out and bought some bends, and he threw me an even bigger discount! So for a nicely welded up exhaust, allll the way from the downpipe to the muffler (my own muffler) he charged me... *drumroll* $180!! Thats it! I did end up paying $100 for the bends, but still that was dirt cheap! So I saved $1700 going to this guy, and got a pretty nice exhaust!
Complaints would be a little grease on the door handle, and the welds aren't "pretty". Nobody is gonna be looking at my exhaust welds, and a little simple green cleaned up the grease.
No more scraping for me! And I finally got a bigger downpipe in there (old one was 2.5")
So if anyone needs a cheap exhaust, want's to get a little louder, whatever, this is your guy!
