Emissions / Inspection in Dallas Tx

Well, my first post in this section!

I am moving from Los Angeles to Addison in June of this year and am wanting to know the legalities etc of inspections and emissions testing in the Dallas county.

With regard to the inspection what is involved with it? I have not been able to find a comprehensive description and am hoping to hear peoples experiences.

I have a 1989 325i, with S50, 5 lug etc etc. (vehicle will not pass CA smog)

No emissions are needed on vehicles 24 years and older so you're good. All you will need is a safety inspection, which should be $14.50 at any place that does them. Just got mine done yesterday on my m30 swapped 84 eta. Technically the cats are supposed to be there, but nobody ever cares on older vehicles and if they do, they are just being a dick.

Well that's great news!! Is there anything that they look for in the safety inspection, like ride height, exhaust DB levels etc?

I will also be turbo in the coming months, I am assuming TX is not like the CA Nazi state and I won't have too many issues!!

Nope, maybe check your tint to make sure it's legal if you have it.

You should definitely enjoy Addison. Tons of restaurants, shops near by, & bars. Lots of bars. If you're single....you're going to have fun.

I'm hoping too! I work in aviation and have been to Addison and Dallas Love field a fair few times, but only ever over night or 2 day trips..

I'm married, an 80's baby and Australian so there are PLENTY of bars that will be visited ;)

Really looking forward to having some space to work on the E30 :)
