Does anyone in DFW have GC coils on there car, that would be willing to let me ride in it? Looking at GCs but I'm unsure what rates to go with.

what are you planning to do with the car? are you going racing or just street use. i think ground control recommends the 450/600lb range for the street. personally, i feel like those rates will jar the teeth out of your head. i would go with the lightest ones if it were me.

It will be an aggressive street car and it will see a handful of track days. I don't mind a stiff ride. That's why I wanted to ride with someone to see how it feels

used to have h&r race with billies, and i thought it was buttery smooth (315/570). now im on GC 500/700 and an "aggressive street car" would be exactly how i describe my car, not too harsh but still very tight. never looking back

Have you ever personally ridden with those rates? Or are you just saying that you think it would be that stiff?

I'm looking at 450/650 with Koni SAs and all 80A poly bushings.

What are you running now? I'm just on billy sports with the IE S3 (also 315/570) and all poly bushings - if you're just stock you can ride in mine and see if you want to go stiffer. I'm in ft worth. Prob will go to cars and coffee in Plano on saturday

I'm on stock suspension right now. I'm gonna try to make it C&C, me and my dad may roll out (him in his M3, me in the E30) together. That'd be cool if I could catch a ride with you sometime during the day.

The 450/600 combo is there street/sport combo. There regular street combo is like 400/550 or something like that. At least that's what Trevor at gc told me.

I have. if i had to daily them, i would be pissed off and irritated, but then i am 44 years old. I guess you can take that advice for what its worth.

currently, i am running new billy sports on my mt2 with h&r cabrio springs on the front and e36 h&r sport springs in the rear. i am very happy with this set. i had the cabrio h&rs on the rear. i thought they were too soft so i took them off and they are on a shelf in my storage.

i have owned a car with ie3 springs and koni's. that wasn't too bad but it was too low for my "old man" taste.

i have also experienced treehouse control arm bushings. those things fucking suck dick on the street. they are truly brutal.

in the end, if you don't mind a jarring ride, choose your suspension on the stiffer end. i am simply saying it isn't for me. more than likely, after a short time, it won't be for you either. 90% of the members here have the theory in their head that they are a.j. foyt but in reality, they just daily the car like everyone else. Are you being honest with yourself above in regard to your car's use? take a good hard look at this before you throw down your cash unless you have money to burn.

That is understandable for those of you in your elder years ;). I'll be catchin a ride with Diesekte this weekend to get an idea on the rate. The E46 has 650/350 iirc (on true coilovers) and they are valved pretty stiff, so I don't think it'll be too bad, time will tell.

I'm going to run Powerflex poly FCABs (I was gonna get Condor solid FCABs but was advised against it because I wasn't using any other solid bushings)

oh, my son's car has billy sports with h&r sports. we drove it up to michigan from houston. i found the ride just right there on the edge of tolerable and annoying depending on how bad the roads were.

So me and Diesekte met up and went for a drive, upon riding in his car (thanks for making the hike out this way!) I've decided I'm going to go with 450/600, I think the car will feel very planted but not overly stiff.
