What the hell happened, me and my buddies showed up to the meeting spot and there wasn't anything goin on. Hang around a few minutes and 3 other guys showed up asking where is everyone. Wasn't a total waste for us, we had fun with the drive up and backComment

Here are the Cliff's Notes...
- Idiots on a "stance" forum plan a huge meet.
- Meet is advertised heavily for months.
- Location of the meet changes 50 times.
- Organizers finally settle on a public park.
- They leave the critical step of securing the site permit to some 17-year-old kid.
- Hundreds of people show up for the meet at 1pm.
- By 2pm the cops show up and kick everyone out because there's no permit.
- The organizers decide to move to another location.
- Hundreds of cars caravan to the new location.
- Within 20 min the cops show up and kick everyone out because there's no permit.
- The kid apologizes for failing to get the permit.
That's pretty much how it happened. Total waste of time.sigpic

MASSIVE potential, MASSIVE potential for greatness, MASSIVE fail on the planning/executionOriginally posted by ebelementsAlso, for those who don't know, negative camber is the greatest thing since sliced bread(panera). Even tire wear is for city busses and the elderly.Comment

Let me fix this for you.
- people on a "stance" forum plan a huge meet.
- Meet is advertised heavily for two weeks.
- Location of the meet changes once, 2 days after the meet started being advertized.
- Organizers finally settle on a public park.
- They leave the critical step of securing the site permit to some 17-year-old kid.
- Hundreds of people show up for the meet at 1pm.
- By 2pm the cops show up and kick everyone out because a woman at the parks office didn't put the secured permit into the computer.
- The organizers decide to move to another location.
- Hundreds of cars caravan to the new location.
- Within 20 min the cops show up and kick everyone out because we're not allowed to park in a parking lot?
- The kid apologizes for failing.
There's a follow up meet in two weeks -the 15th- at Garden State Plaza. Police and securety are already on our side for this one, so expect it to be just as big or bigger! No worry about rain either, as the whole parking area is all covered.Byron

For teh lulz...
Ok so I know a ton of you are pissed off, and you should be, not at StanceWorks Ben and Mike have done nothing wrong here, but at me.
I had called the Anthony Wayne State Park long in advance, thought we had the permit details and everything finalized, I had even given them my debit card number so that I could pay for the permit. Fast forward 4 weeks later to today. Get to the park everything is going well, tons of amazing cars, easily 150+. Then about 1.5 hours in the Park Police show up saying we need a permit, I am perplexed by this, seeing as I thought the permit details were finalized, after about an 45 minutes of figuring out what was going on, they kick us out. And people go to Palisades Mall and Garden State, well that didn't end well either after Mall security tells us the first time thats ok for us to be there, 30 minutes later, they come and start kicking us out again, at this point people are going home because its getting later in the day and no one wants to move again.
After the whole incident, I decide on the way home to make a phone call to the state park, after being on hold for nearly 1 hour, and being routed to several different people. I get to the woman who told me we were good for the permit, and being at Anthony Wayne. She tells me and I quote "Oh I am very sorry, after you faxed the information over, I saw that you weren't 18, and for that you can't get a permit." I was fuming at this point, because all it would have taken was a 30 second phone call 4 WEEKS ago, saying that I wasn't able to get the permit because I wasn't 18. I could have had anyone I knew get that permit for me. All she had to do was call me back and say it wasn't ok for me to do it, and that I needed someone else to get it. I proceeded as calmly as I could to tell her that she let down 200+ people today, because she couldn't get back to me.
Now at this point you are all thinking why didn't I just call and make sure that the permit was going through. I had done this, 26 times, over the past week, (I checked my phone bill), now of those 26 calls, I talked to a human being 5 times, and the rest of the time it was either busy tones or answering machines. I left 12 messages, and no one got back to me. At this point, I should have just cancelled, I really should have.
This is no one else's fault but my own, I thought that everything was good for today, that there would be no problems, that we would be able to have one of the best shows the Northeast has seen in a long time. That clearly was not the case.
Please don't go blaiming Ben and Mike, and slandering the StanceWorks name, this was my fault alone, no one elses. If this means I get a permanent ban, so be it, I screwed up, BIG TIME, and I completely deserve it.
If you have anything to say please, contact me through PM, and I will be sure to answer your questions or even if you want to just yell at me for the next 3 months, thats fine too.sigpic

Yup. That was me.
Sorry if I sound bitchy about this. It's just that I don't get a lot of time off from work and I feel like I wasted pretty much my whole Sunday just because someone wasn't able to make a couple of phone calls. Securing the site permit is pretty much the ONLY thing they needed to do for this meet. You'd think 4-weeks would be enough time to sort it out.
Keep in mind that there were people who drove in from L.I., south Jersey, CT, and even Boston. It's very disrespectful to everyone to invite them to a meet when you've neglected to do the one, single thing you need to do. All they had to do was follow-up a phone call for God's sake.sigpic

I understand the hard feelings about it, my drive from RI was 3 hours, but I think both Keilan (the organizer) and the park are equally at fault. He was told that it would be all set for when he got there, but it would have been simple to just call and make sure. And they should have called him back as soon as they found a problem.
For the hour before we got kicked out, it was a great show.

I forgot my camera so I didn't take any myself. Most people in that thread are way better photographers than me anyways.Byron
