Hey guys I just moved from Washington state to NYC (Queens) and was wondering where people that live in the city do work on their cars. There are almost no garages attached to houses and the ones that do have garages have really small ones. Are there shops where you can pay to work on your own car ?

Gfest looks like a good meet. I should have my car out here by then. I am worried that my car is too low though. I have never seen such massive potholes and my car is lowered and has a low exhaust but you guys have lowered cars and make it work some how.Comment

You will either learn the art of dodging these potholes like a madman OR you'll learn the hard way and bust at least ONE oil pan.
The other option is to bring it up a notch...I've been driving with my H&R O.E. sport springs for 6yrs now and I've only managed to crack one oil pan.IG: deniso_nsi Leave me feedback here

Welcome to the neighborhood. I'm in Astoria. I typically go by my family friends house out in South Ozone park to get my shyte done, they have a bigger driveway than mine. Plus they're mechanics and have all the tools when I need.
Oh and as for the potholes, you'll learn eventually. The evil roads of queens have taken 2 of my oil pans last year. My skidplate is on it's way.Click here to leave me feedback on our transactions. :pComment

I find that GCP (grand central pky) , is especially bad, come wintertime.
Could be worse, could be the deegan or cross bronx ;)
There are a few shops here in Queens.
Rohan works right on Queens/Nassau border.
There is also a bmw specialist good for maintenance work and repairs located in Franklin sq (GTS Motors), aprox 5 minutes from Queens border.Comment

im from portland oregon and moved to ct a few years ago and learned that people on this side dont know how the freak to drive in the snow/rain/crappy weather at all.......if your low deff get a extra oil pan and a skid plate and be prepared to dodge lots of pot holes and have people call hills mountains.........and come to gfest so i can meet someone from the right coastOriginally posted by ErickComment
