Planning my route out to GFest next week and wanted to get your guys input. Many of you know what a bitch it is to drive lowered cars on these shitty NY roads so basically i'm wondering if their are any guides or sites that offer info on highway quality surrounding the city. I planned to take the belt to the Verrazano then through Staten Island, TP down then back up GSPway. Google maps suggest i go above the city and take the Throgs Neck to the cross bronx then to the GW. I only hear horror stories about the Cross Bornx though. Should i raise my suspension up a bunch that drop it back down once i get to the show? Seems like a silly idea but... Any suggestions guys??

def don't go through cross bronx. belt to verrazano would be more ideal. the belt ain't too bad.1972 2002Tii -
go through staten island, the staten island expressway is not bad at all, i drive it everyday, the belt i dont know to well, now the BQE, that sucks...
the only strip thats bad is the right lane on the west shore expressway just after victory blvd exit, but if you stay in the left you'll be fine. the bronx is much worse than SI, i dont even like driving there with my stock honda...
i would suggest rolling with the caravan, and just following someone low, once you get down to the south shore, ill meet up, and you can follow me..
if you want pm me we'll trade #'s so u can let me know when u get on the brigde..Proud Owner and Operator.

i'm planning on taking the parkway north to 78 then north about 2 or 3 miles of back streets, the parkway is gold, 78 im not sure, back roads up there are usually good, but phiper blvd, to get to the parkway from outterbridge, has some rough patches. but its only 2 miles long...Proud Owner and Operator.

Hey guys, I'm from Boston and am a bit ignorant of NY geography. I'm staying with a buddy in Queens saturday night though, can any new yorkers let me know if there's a meet up that would be convenient for me and not too out of the way? When and where if so?
Thanks guys

Another alternative (but a big circle) is to take Belt all the way down to Battery Tunnel (flawless) to West Side highway (flawless) to Holland Tunnel (flawless).
By flawless I mean, no problems in my 3 ton car on super stiff suspension.
P.S. Van Wyck road is brand new as of two weeks ago towards Manhattan, if you want to cut across there and get into the city then on west side HWY. They re pawned the whole road.
P.P.S I operate a site that has very NYC centric data http://www.potholefree.com/Comment

Taking Belt to Verezzano bridge is not a problem, roads are some what clean, the only parts where you need to take it easy are over the small bridges. Once you get on VZ bridge you should be good to go.

Thanks!! Site is also very helpful. Heres the plan for the LI caravan (also a thread for this) So 10:30 - 11:00 of Exit 13 of the Belt. Then Belt to Verrazano on through SI to Gothels, 95 up to 78 westsigpic
