My friend was getting his rear suspension done on his E39, and when the guy put it back in the car, he left the force distribution plate for the rear shock mount out, destroyed the new bushing, blamed my friend for buying a faulty part from the dealership, made my friend buy another one, same thing happened again, and by the third time, we found out from a BMW tech that the guy didn't put in the force distribution plate.
He tossed the entire old suspension setup out and just slapped in the replacement parts. My friend had to buy all the parts that were thrown out by the mechanic. The mechanic even charged him for labor the 2nd time he put in the rear shock mount.
Worst part, he's not willing to pay my friend back for his mistake. He owe's my friend $400 in damages (thrown away parts & 2 rear shock mounts he broke & broken interior parts)
Just because you have a Mech. Eng. degree doesn't mean you know everything about cars. BMW took years to engineer the cars that are on the road, they don't just put washer, spacers, or FORCE DISTRIBUTION plates in for no reason. Case closed.
