I'm doing okay out in Astoria. We lucked out here, even though I'm like 4 blocks from the East River. The cars are all okay!

Best of luck on SI.. it's ugly out there. In Jersey no power but OK. My parents have been displaced from their home at Breezy Point. This is a bad one...

I got lucky and did not lose power. My neighbors though weren't so lucky.

Gasoline is a big issue right now though.

It good to know most of you guys are good. I only lost Power at my house for one day. I been busy at work all week, I was a somewhat of a relief to some people in the canarsie areas and Rosedale area. I restored hot water and heat to some of the houses in those areas. Its really sad to see all the things some of these people lost

some pics i took today of my friends house (including 2 of his cars and a brand new 2012 Audi S4).....he was about 10 blocks inland from the ocean, and he purposely parked his cars another 12 blocks inland from there...

I swear I've never seen such mass destruction like this nxt to 9/11. Driving into this area was like driving into a war zone. You see things on tv (media), and it makes you think that it affected only a small section of areas they report on. Not the case here. I drove within at least a 20 block radius, and everything was destroyed. Cars were lifted and thrown like toys, same with houses that were lifted completely from their foundations and moved. Here are some photos I snapped of my friends' house + their surrounding streets...which i felt bad about taking.

This was their 2nd floor...you can see the water line halfway up. The sitting water was about 15-20ft from the ground street

                          their basement

trying to salvage what we can

tree punctured into their living room

this was a pic my friend and her husband took from their 2nd floor living room the day after....water here receded from 15ft down to 5ft pictured.
(So Vinnie, you're telling me this could've been prevented in an area that isn't in Zone A - a supposed non-threatening area?)
My friend and his wife were in the house, and said the water was rushing in at the rate of 1ft/1min....they had to run into the attic, and thought they were done for. They had to get rescued by boat.
